Diverse Legal Background
Karishma's legal journey began as a Financial Advisor where she gained valuable experience in retail client services, sales support, administering Power of Attorney documents, and handling broker queries.
Subsequently, she served as a Debtors Clerk, specializing in credit control, enhancing her financial acumen and attention to detail.
Karishma's dedication to the legal field continued at an international company where she held the positions of Contracts Controller, later as Contracts Manager and Legal Advisor. She excelled as a Team Leader, managing contracts, service level agreements, and vending for utilities. Her responsibilities included drafting sale and service agreements, legal review of agreements and tender documents, providing legal opinions, and ensuring compliance with regulations and provided guidance to her team on service contract requirements, contract addendums, and cross-funding calculations. Her responsibilities extended to credit control, contract settlement, and legal advisory, including matters related to the National Credit Act and Consumer Protection Act.
Breadth of Legal Expertise
Karishma then transitioned to the legal profession, joining Matthew Francis Incorporated Attorneys as an Attorney. Here, she specialized in Commercial and Contract Law, becoming adept in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, contract management, company law, and corporate governance. She also handled private and public law litigation, appearing in Magistrates' Court and the High Court.
Current Role at NMA INC
Currently, Karishma Beni-Ray is a Director at NMA INC, overseeing the insurance law practice department. With a strong focus on insurance-related litigation, including public liability claims, insurance recovery, third-party claims, and commercial recoveries, she represents high-profile clients and often appears as Counsel in Divisions of the High Court.
Her extensive experience extends to personal injury and medical negligence claims, as well as fraud detection and forensic investigation. Karishma is dedicated to providing legal advice and opinions on insurance claims, ensuring the interests of insurance clients are protected.
